  1. I was unable to connect a Nexus 5 phone to WiFi provided by a modem (2Wire 2701 modem from Bell Canada). Desktop and laptop computers, and a Nexus 7 minitablet, all connected successfully to WiFi using the same modem. The only solution that worked for me was to change the Wireless Security setting for the modem from WEP-Open to WPA/WPA2-PSK. Warning: I found that this change in security setting could only be done successfully by contacting the ISP by phone and following instructions. An attempt to do it myself via the webpage for my modem failed. I lost all WiFi connections, and had to reset the modem in order to restore them.
